What the heck is going on?

Lately I’m beginning to think I’m overmedicated. Or crazy. I’ve been on 50mcg of generic Synthroid for almost three weeks now.  I’ve blogged, researched, and complained about my symptoms and reread portions of my hypothyroid books. The bottom line is that I’m still not feeling better.  The only symptom that has improved has been the mood swings, . . . → Read More: What the heck is going on?

it’s a big one

You may or not know that I’ve been on generic Synthroid for over a week. I will save my discussion of generics v. name brands for another time. I’ve been keeping track of my symptoms and I have noticed a slight change.  Here are my changes:

Fewer naps (some days none)
Fewer mood swings
Scalp itchiness
Dry skin
Worsening . . . → Read More: it’s a big one

Thryoid and Mona Lisa

So, I’ll cut to the chase. I started my first dose of T4 Wednesday.  And boy it’s been a long time coming, as you know.  Finally connected with the gynecologist who was the only doctor to believe in me enough to willingly try a dose of Synthroid on me.  In case I forgot to tell you, . . . → Read More: Thryoid and Mona Lisa

Famous people and depression

There’s been a lot of press lately about celebrities (mostly men) and their sex addictions.  Psych Central discussed it in an article here: http://blogs.psychcentral.com/celebrity/2010/06/new-research-sheds-light-on-sex-addiction/.  These kinds of articles always make me think about my own struggles and how I would hate to have them blasted all over the TV and other media.

As I come to terms . . . → Read More: Famous people and depression

I have a confession

So maybe you’ve noticed I haven’t been around much since june 1st. or maybe you haven’t notice. Whatever. But since completing NaBloPoMo for May, I’ve taken a teeny little break. Posting every day for a month is taxing. And the timing for the end of NaBloPoMo was perfect because I have entered another mood swing phase.  . . . → Read More: I have a confession

i’m like a broken record. or a hypochondriac.

Looking up endocrinologists today.

I know I know I’ve been down this road before. But I’m taking another go. For two reasons: #1 mostly because I’ve been feeling like crap: lethargic and moody for several weeks (ok two) and #2 the rest (leastly?) because I talked to a sympathetic ear this morning.

I’ve been through the whole test . . . → Read More: i’m like a broken record. or a hypochondriac.

Hey AstraZeneca, where’s my check?

So. I heard today that the drug company AstraZeneca, the makers of the antipsychotic drug Seroquel has settled some kind of multi million dollar claim with the government. According to the Wall Street Journal (http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20100427-717519.html?mod=WSJ_World_MIDDLEHeadlinesEurope) the company allegedly “illegally marketed the drug for unapproved uses, such as for the treatment of aggression, Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety, depression . . . → Read More: Hey AstraZeneca, where’s my check?
