Blogoversary and HTML help

To celebrate my first (ok, second) blogoversary i’m tempted

to do something different.

mostly i write crazy rambling stuff

about myself, right?

so today i’m going to offer you a tip

a useful tip i’ve learned in all my year (ok, years)  of blogging.

Here’s a tip I use almost daily:

if youre like me, you like blog buttons

it should be obvious that i like buttons (cuz i have so many of them)

but what i like even more than blog buttons

are

centered blog buttons!

i like symmetry.

i like looking at my blog and seeing all the cute little buttons in a straight line.

many of you prolly already know this

but for those who don’t

it’s easy

peasy

lemon squeezy

go to your widget thingy in your admin panel or whereever you do your behind the scene things

mine is wordpress so i go to appearance, widgets

after i copy and paste the code from the blog whose button i’m taking

for example, here’s the code to my Pinterest button:

<a href=”http://pinterest.com/iyampam/”><img src=”http://d3io1k5o0zdpqr.cloudfront.net/images/follow-on-pinterest-button.png” width=”156″ height=”26″ alt=”Follow Me on Pinterest” /></a>

you type the code <center> in front of all that other HTML  like this:

<center><a href=”http://pinterest.com/iyampam/”><img src=”http://d3io1k5o0zdpqr.cloudfront.net/images/follow-on-pinterest-button.png” width=”156″ height=”26″ alt=”Follow Me on Pinterest” /></a

and it centers your button

how cool is that???

try it and let me know how you like it, mkay?

  • Weird that you’d have this today, as I’ve been struggling with a ‘button question’…. I made a button and it’s on my blog. But do I have to have the html code underneath it for others to use it? When you click on it, it does take you to my blog, but can others copy it without having the code on there? How do I add the code to ‘show’ on there, now that I have it? Do I put a separate ‘box’ with the code showing below it?

  • If yo go to my blog, I have a tutorial page. That’s where the code for the box beneath it is laid out. If I type it in her, it’ll just become the box XD
