Vindication?!

Ok so let’s see how many doctors I’ve seen since December 09:

  • My GP
  • Two different dermatologists
  • A neurologist
  • a neuropsychologist
  • an endocrinologist
  • a gynecologist
  • a psychiatrist

Now let’s see what kinds of tests I’ve had done;

  • Blood work, lots and lots
  • CT scan
  • MRI
  • Scalp biopsy (ouchy)
  • Neuropsychological intake
  • Cortisone shots (ouchy)
  • A gazillion neck/goiter checks
  • Pap
  • Breast exam
  • Neurology exams (Achilles’ heel test, what time is it ,etc)

What diagnoses have I received?

  • PTSD
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Perimenopause
  • Addison’s disease
  • Early onset Alzheimer’s
  • Dementia
  • Pseudo dementia
  • ADHD
  • Premature ovarian failure
  • Alopecia
  • The “it is” (The Man being funny)

Wanna guess the different kinds of meds I’ve been put on?

  • Various antidepressants
  • Sleeping pills
  • Anti anxiety meds
  • Antibiotics
  • Prescription Scalp oil
  • Prescription shampoo

So what’s left? Well, I think the only thing I haven’t had checked is my vision. But I’m not due there until end of summer.

Here are what helpful people suggested might help me:

  • Therapy/counseling
  • Sleep study
  • ENT
  • Vacation
  • Cut back on work
  • Go to work
  • Exercise
  • Yoga

I recount this list to prove to my naysayers that I am right.  My gynecologist is the only doctor who has believed me. When she looked at all my symptoms she said “heck ya you might be hypothyroid!”  Even though my TSH and other levels are normal, there has been a change in them in the past 6 months. And most importantly, I FEEL CRAPPY!!!!!! So on Monday we will discuss the possibility of me going on a dose of Synthroid.  Which is all I wanted.  Someone to listen to me and suggest the idea of trying Synthroid. Maybe it won’t work, but I wanted someone to at least TRY.  And do you know why she listened to me? Because she believes in looking at a patient’s symptoms, NOT the lab tests, which is all I’ve ever wanted anyone to do.

I feel vindicated! Sort of.

Regarding Queen of Everything

Her highness is an educator librarian who is drawn to the little ones. In her purse you’ll find a cup of coffee, a book, and her iPhone. She loves social media, writing book reviews, and curating children’s literature. She is an information specialist, maven, connector. and still queen of planet blortnick
