Trying to catch up

So the last post I made was for a week ago Monday. The next day, Tuesday, was my 1 week post op appointment. I was excited to get out of the house, even if the weather was bitter cold; at least it was sunny. DH drove me to the appointment and when the doc read my pathology report we were shocked. She said that the report showd that my uterus was florid (her words) with adenomyosis and endometriosis. Here is the MayoClinic.com definition: Adenomyosis and endometriosis are both conditions that affect your uterus. With adenomyosis, the uterine lining begins to grow within the walls of your uterus. In endometriosis, cells lining the uterus begin to grow outside your uterus — on other reproductive organs or tissue lining your pelvic area.

So as you can imagine I felt extremely justified because what this revelation means is that the only effective treatment for these issues is a hysterectomy! I finally felt like people were seeing that I was right all along!! That was a huge relief to not feel like I was overreacting and taking a drastic measure to fix a simple problem (fibroids). So when all is said and done, I had a supracervical abdominal hysterectomy (SAH), kept my cervix and both tubes. Additionally I had fibroids, Adenomyosis and endometriosis. No wonder I feel so much better!
